Healing From the Inside Out
On February 11, 2023, I had the distinct honor of planning and facilitating my first women’s conference with my sister. There were about 60-70 people in the room. The day of the conference was powerful and healing took place in the room. The room was full of Aspiring and Existing Christian Leaders and the Lord laid it on my heart to share this message with you as well.
Over the years I have counseled and coached many Women and Men of God who were beautiful but were so broken inside. It was an honor to walk with them through their healing journey. They were from a variety of backgrounds, races, education, careers, ages, different churches, and the list goes on. They all had one thing in common. They had so many unresolved traumas and lacked the confidence in knowing who they truly are in Christ. That broke my heart because I could see them the way that God saw them.
I am big on words and definitions, and I try to research specific words that are highlighted to me, especially in the Word of God. I researched the word inside and this is what I found. It means the inner part, the interior, inward nature, thoughts, or feelings. Here are Synonyms or alternate words of the word Inside. They are within, confidential, private, hidden, secret, classified, undisclosed, personal, intimate, restricted, undercover, concealed, closet, top secret, underground, behind the scenes, hush-hush, hushed, unsaid, unmentioned, suppressed, backstage, untold, silent, repressed, offstage, stifled, unadvertised, unannounced and the list goes on. As I called out the words, I could see the continence of the people who were in attendance changed.
The word healing means, the process of making or becoming sound or healthy again. Some synonyms for healing are to alleviate, relieve, ease, release, help, soften, lessen and the list goes on.
My question is to you, what is hidden on the inside of your heart that has never been disclosed? Maybe you have also experienced a lot of rejection. Maybe you have experienced a lot of traumas such as physical abuse, sexual abuse, mental and emotional abuse, grief, and loss. Maybe you have experienced disappointment, abandonment, anxiety, depression, self-hate, and fear. Maybe you have experienced some of these things and you have either repressed them or even forgotten about some of them.
Many people don’t understand that the things that are hidden and repressed can affect how we think and feel about ourselves and others. Sometimes we can have all these things and not even know it, especially if we have been in SURVIVAL MODE most of our lives. But God desires you to Thrive and not Strive or Fake it till you Make It.
We often tell ourselves that what we have experienced does not matter, no one cares, I can suck it up, and so forth but what have repressed and suppressed does affect us and it piles up over time.
Other people may not see it but God sees it. He is omnipresent and he cares for the condition of His Daughters heart. I stand proxy today as God’s mouthpiece and vessel to do what he wants to do and say what He wants to say. Baby, I am just the gateway that has yielded everything that I have.
Here are some ways to know that you have not healed from hidden pain in your heart.
1. The thoughts that run through our mind or the words that we say about ourselves such as, I am not enough, I cannot do this, I am not smart enough, and we compare ourselves to others. The word of God says this: “So as a man thinketh so is He” Proverbs 23:7
2. Pay attention to how you respond to God. God shares his heart with us about us in various ways and how we respond is a clear indicator of how we see ourselves and how we see Him.
3. Do you truly see yourself the way God sees you. Are you knit-picking his creation which are YOU? We all have flaws and it's okay to want to dress up and be beautiful BUT are you using that to validate yourself?
4. How our body responds to certain things. I teach a lot about how our body responds to anxiety and triggers. Trigger means to cause a strong emotional reaction of fear, shock, anger, or worry in someone, especially because they are made to remember something bad that has happened in the past.
I encourage you to take inventory of your heart and allow God to shine the light and the places where you have hidden pain on the INSIDE.
