Why I Became a Certified Christian Life Coach
Why I Became a Certified Christian Life Coach....And Why You Might Want to Consider It Too
One of the questions I often receive is, “Why did you become a Certified Christian Life Coach if you’re already a Licensed Therapist?”
My response? “To expand my reach.”
It might sound simple, but there’s a deeper story behind that answer—one rooted in prayer, purpose, and a divine prompting that I could no longer ignore. So today, I want to share that story with you—and perhaps encourage you to prayerfully consider if God is calling you to do the same.
From Licensed Therapist to Certified Christian Life Coach: My Journey
I’ve been practicing as a Licensed Therapist since 2013, and over the years, I’ve walked alongside hundreds of clients through grief, trauma, spiritual healing, and personal growth. However, when the pandemic hit in 2020, something unexpected happened.
My inbox and referral list were overflowing with individuals from outside my state—people from the East Coast, the Midwest, and beyond—reaching out for faith-based counseling. Many of them had read my reviews, heard about me through a friend or ministry contact, or simply felt a strong pull toward the way I integrated biblical truth with clinical support.
Some were so eager to work with me that they even contacted their state's Social Work Boards to see if I could legally make it work. Unfortunately, the answer was always no. As therapists, we are licensed to practice only within the states where we’re credentialed. While necessary for legal and ethical reasons, that limitation also left me feeling heartbroken.
I knew many of these individuals weren’t just looking for a counselor—they were seeking a safe space with someone who understood their Christian worldview, their spiritual struggles, and their desire for healing that acknowledged both their heart and their faith.
Obeying God’s Nudge to Launch Something New
During that same season, I began to sense a stirring in my spirit. Coaching was something I had always been interested in—especially group coaching and teaching—but my schedule was already full with my therapy practice, ministry work, and family responsibilities.
Still, I couldn’t shake the feeling. So I prayed. And I waited.
Then in 2020, right in the midst of the global chaos and uncertainty, the Lord released me to move forward. I started a second company and began pursuing additional certifications, trainings, and spiritual preparation for what was to come. This was more than a business move—it was a divine assignment.
The Dream That Changed Everything
In 2021, the Lord confirmed what I had been sensing through a powerful dream. I saw myself squeezing milk from my bosom—milk that represented nourishment, wisdom, and truth. The milk was filling hundreds of baby bottles so fast that I couldn’t keep up. When I woke up, I heard the Lord say clearly:
“Daughter, it’s time for you to pour out.”
That was it.
I had spent over a decade in the secret place—hidden, refined, stretched, and trained. I had invested thousands of hours into my clinical education, spiritual growth, and life experiences. And now, God was telling me it was time to multiply what He had deposited in me.
That dream was the catalyst for EmPowered Purpose Academy.
Coming Out of Hiding and Embracing the Call
For years, I was content being in the background—serving, supporting, and quietly building. But in this new season, the Lord made it clear: It’s time to equip others.
The weight of the call became so heavy that I could no longer suppress it. I was spiritually full to the point of bursting. I knew I had to create a space where other Christian leaders, therapists, ministers, and everyday believers could become equipped to coach others with biblical wisdom and practical tools.
So, I created a Christian Life Coaching Certification Program that I wish I had when I started. This program doesn’t just give you a certificate—it gives you the biblical foundation, practical tools, and business support you need to thrive.
Why Become a Certified Christian Life Coach?
If you’re feeling that tug in your spirit like I did, here are five quick benefits of becoming certified that might encourage you to take the next step:
1. Expand Your Reach Without Licensing Barriers
Unlike therapy, Christian life coaching is not restricted by state licensure. You can work with clients across state lines—or even globally—without violating professional boundaries.
2. Empower Others with a Biblical Approach
A Christian Life Coach isn’t just a motivator—they’re a disciple-maker, using Scripture and Spirit-led wisdom to help people walk in their God-given purpose.
3. Create New Income Streams
Coaching allows you to offer group programs, online courses, retreats, digital products, and more. You're not limited to one-on-one sessions or hourly billing.
4. Step Fully Into Your Calling
You’ve been carrying wisdom, life experience, and spiritual depth for years. Becoming a coach creates a structured outlet to pour that out and impact lives.
5. Be the Answer to Someone’s Prayer
Many believers are looking for Christian professionals who “get it.” When you become certified, you can fill that gap and be a vessel of healing and hope.

FAQs
1. What’s the difference between therapy and Christian life coaching?
Therapy focuses on diagnosing and treating mental health issues, often looking at past wounds and trauma. On the other hand, Christian life coaching is future-focused and centered around helping clients set goals, overcome obstacles, and walk in their God-given purpose using biblical principles. Coaching does not involve diagnosing or clinical treatment, making it accessible across state lines without a license.
2. Do I need to be a licensed therapist or pastor to become a Certified Christian Life Coach?
Not at all! While some students come from counseling, ministry, or leadership backgrounds, certification is open to anyone with a heart to serve, lead, and help others grow. If you’re passionate about using your life experiences, biblical insight, and God-given gifts to empower others, you’re a great fit for the program.
3. How long does it take to complete the Christian Life Coach Certification?
Our program at EmPowered Purpose Academy is designed to be flexible and self-paced, with live mentorship opportunities. Most students complete the training within 6–12 weeks, depending on their schedule. You’ll have access to video modules, downloadable workbooks, coaching tools, and a supportive community to help you along the way.
4. What can I do with my certification once I complete the program?
After certification, you can launch your own coaching practice, host group coaching programs, lead workshops or retreats, write books or devotionals, offer online courses, speak at churches or events, and so much more. You’ll be equipped to coach clients one-on-one or in groups—locally or globally—without the legal limitations of therapy.
5. What makes EmPowered Purpose Academy’s certification different from other programs?
EmPowered Purpose Academy is more than a training—it’s a Holy Spirit-led experience. Our program is built on biblical foundations, clinical insight, and real-world coaching tools. You won’t just get information; you’ll receive mentorship, prophetic encouragement, and practical strategies from someone who’s walked this journey. Plus, we’re a registered trademark and certified training site, which adds credibility to your credentials.
